Hear from Leadership in Rural Medicine graduates from the Midland Regional Campus.
As a provider that aims to practice in a community general surgery setting, my Leadership in Rural Medicine experience in Midland was valuable in many ways. It not only gave me one-on-one training with an attending without resident interference to greatly enhance my technical skills but also demonstrated to me first hand the breadth of procedures I could do and gave me early experience with robotic surgery techniques. The most impactful part of my LRM experience was how it modeled for me the opportunities of my future practice in a community setting as a general surgeon.

The most impactful part of my Leadership in Rural Medicine experience at the Midland Campus were the connections I was able to make with attendings, faculty, staff, residents, and nursing staff. No two people will have the same medical school experience and you have a lot of control over the type of experience you have. My experiences in the LRM program led me to stay in Midland for my family medicine residency and to soon return to one of my rural sites as an attending.
